University Arts and Cultural Initiative Launch

Symphonia Academica were pleased to be invited to perform at the Anglia Ruskin University's Lord Ashcroft Building, on their Chelmsford Campus, at the exciting launch event for their Arts and Cultural Initiative.

They performed at the invitation of Paul Jackson, Director of Music and Performance at the ARU, with whom they have worked closely to create strong links with the university. With several concerts and composers' workshops already undertaken at the ARU, Symphonia Academica is looking to build an even closer relationship with this progressive and adventurous university.

A programme arranged for strings

The concert took place in front of a large number of people from the University and Arts organisations in the Chelmsford area along with members of the public. Interspersed between the concertos forming Vivaldi's great master piece Le Quattro Stagioni (The Four Seasons) were one of Delius's pastoral Aquarelle, Fanny Mendelssohn's Lento Appassionato and South American Getaway by Burt Bacharach. These last two items were senstively arranged for the ensemble by their composer-in-association, Richard Sisson.

The concert was performed adjacent to the newly arrived grand piano heralding a new era in performance at the ARU's Chelmsford campus.
